God is a woman. That's the title of the song Ariana Grande performed on last night's MTV Video Music Awards. And it's a statement I wholeheartedly agree with. “Archaeologists believe God was considered female for the first 200,000 years of human life on earth,” writes Christobel Hastings in a recent Grande-inspired story for Vice's Broadly. Of course she was. Unless you're a seahorse (or a hermaphroditic animal), women generally do the heavy lifting when it comes to procreation. Grande certainly doesn't cover all this in her new tune, but she deserves a shoutout for putting the subject matter back on the map.
