On April 20, 2004, Orange peel delivered his first paid singing telegram. He'd recently bounced a rent check and was living hand to mouth, when his belly dancer roommate suggested he approach the telegram agency she delivered “belly grams” for about work. That agency, as it turns out, had zero barrier to entry. He was offered his first paid gig on his birthday (4/20). Dressed as a cowboy, he serenaded the recipient at her office, including an original he'd co-written in college called “Trespass on my Premises.” Nearly twenty years later, he’s still in the joyful service business, having delivered somewhere north of 4000 to date. About a dozen of those have been immortalized by local TV and news outlets.
